Cuvée Kitchen + Wine Bar is quickly becoming one of our favorite date night spots! We’ve been a handful of times with friends and I’ve even enjoyed a ladies’ night at Cuvée.
We had the good fortune to dine there for Valentine’s Day a few weeks ago and it was quite the treat! Though their full menu was available, we opted for the special prix fixe menu in honor of the day of love.
Cuvée has by far the most inventive and unique menu in Destin. The culinary team seems to always be pushing the envelope when it comes to flavor, presentation, and ingredients. If you are an adventurous eater, you will be in heaven!
The staff is very knowledgeable of wines (and of course food) and our server helped us select a beautiful bottle of grenache to enjoy with our meal. Jason nor I had every heard of grenache, but it was divine.
Loved the presentation of the “aphrodisiac oyster!” Just perfect for Valentine’s Day.
Per our server’s suggestion, we added the charred octopus over polenta to our line up. This was our first time trying octopus.
I loved it! The octopus had been brined and then charred and was bursting with flavor. It was incredible paired with the creamy polenta and bright flavors of the salad. Jason wasn’t 100% sold on octopus, but I’m glad he tried it.
My favorite course was the Gulf Coast Vol au Vent. Oh my word! It was like a mini seafood pot pie and it was just heavenly. It was filled with scallops and shrimp and a creamy truffle sauce. I all but licked my plate.
Jason had the steak as his entree and I had the grouper- both were excellent but I failed to get a good photo. You’ll have to take my word for it! The roasted ratatouille that came with my grouper was delicious. I loved the roasted eggplant!
Dessert was a trio of chocolate with a salted caramel pot de creme.
How beautiful is that presentation? Cuvée really takes it to the next level with all the tiny details. Nothing is thrown together or haphazard- everything is well thought out and the love and care really come through in the food.
But back to dessert- that pot de creme was the stuff my dreams are made of! Creamy, sweet, salty, heavenly. I dipped the fudge cake into the creamy custard and it took it over the top.
Cuvée is definitely a great spot for a date night (I featured them as one of the most romantic restaurants in Destin), but it’s also fun with a group for a more casual affair.
I love small plate style eating because I always want a bite of everything! The melted cheese dip and bone marrow are my favorites. As for sushi, you’ve got to try the Hot Mama and When Pigs Fly. You really can’t go wrong with anything you choose!
Be sure to stop by Cuvée Kitchen + Wine Bar this spring or summer when you visit Destin. Tell them I sent you!
