I’m so excited to finally reveal Julia’s big girl room with you!
Julia’s room was a really fun project for me throughout our home building process. I wanted the space to reflect her bright and girly personality, but also wanted it to grow with her and not seem too juvenile. I became fixated on the idea of flamingos. They are fun, happy, and oh so Floridian- just like Julia!
I started off by creating this idea board and ran with it.
I knew I wanted the focal point of the room to be an accent wall covered in wall paper. Have you shopped for wall paper recently? It can be overwhelming! With over 650,000 designs, I turned to Spoonflower for ideas and inspiration.
I scoured through hundreds of designs (and ordered my fair share of $5 swatches) but kept coming back to this particular flamingo print. Isn’t it fabulous?! I absolutely love the colors and knew I could pull out the mint green as well as pink with Julia’s bedroom accessories.
Spoonflower’s design database includes the art of independent designers from all over the world, who earn a commission each time their designs are sold. The artist that designed this print was kind enough to adjust the scale, so I had her make the flamingos larger. Such an easy process!
Spoonflower’s wallpapers are made in the USA and printed at their headquarters in North Carolina. Best of all? The paper is super easy to install and remove. As much as we adore Julia’s room, something tells me my sassy girl will change her mind again before she graduates high school and moves out. 😉
And how fabulous are the fancy flamingos on this throw pillow? Spoonflower’s sister company, Roostery, has the same design marketplace and prints the designs on home goods such as napkins, tea towels, pillows, and throw blankets. I just love these long-necked ladies.
More adorable throw pillows from Roostery. The name of the design is Flamingo Party- so cute!
I’m pretty sure Julia is thrilled with her room- what do you think?!
A BIG thanks goes out to Spoonflower and Roostery for making Julia’s perfectly Florida flamingo room come to life. These companies are so easy to work with and I’m more than pleased with their products.
