With Valentine’s Day just a couple days away, I thought it would be fun to share my favorite romantic restaurants in Destin!
Jason and I usually don’t dine out for Valentine’s Day. Since having kids, it’s been our tradition to bake a heart-shaped pizza with them to celebrate the day of love. We get plenty of date nights as it is, so we love this tradition that includes the whole family.
So, in no particular order, here are the most delicious spots to cozy up with your honey. Perfect for Valentine’s Day, anniversaries, or any day you are feeling the love.
Sunset Cocktail at Horizons at The Henderson (Destin)
OK, so first thing’s first. You need to start your romantic evening with a sunset cocktail at the bar at The Henderson hotel! They have a whole selection of prosecco cocktails (my fav!) and an old captain comes out and does a special ceremony to celebrate the sunset. Breathtaking views of Henderson Beach State Park are a big bonus!
Bijoux (Miramar Beach)
This is one of our all-time favorite spots for a special occasion! The owners are amazing folks and the menu has a good bit of French/Louisiana influence. The decor is dark and sultry, yet also cozy. The fried oyster salad, blackened brie, crab beignets (when available), and seared scallops are all divine!
Seagar’s Prime Steaks & Seafood (Miramar Beach)
Located inside the Sandestin Beach Hilton, Seagar’s is a traditional steak house and they just know how to do it the right way. Incredible steaks, extensive wine list, knowledgeable staff. You will feel taken care of from the minute you walk in the door until the minute you walk out. If you’re feeling especially indulgent, go for the Caesar salad and bananas foster- both are made table side and both are incredible.
Mimmo’s Ristorante Italiano (Destin)
I’ve already professed my love for Mimmo’s. It’s not that it’s a quiet and intimate spot, but there’s just something about sharing a nice bottle of wine and a big bowl of pasta with your love that is perfect! Mimmo’s is our go-to for date nights. We love grabbing a booth for two or snagging a couple seats at the bar and chatting up the other patrons and bar tenders. Our favorites are the focaccia del sud, veal saltimbocca, pasta corleone, and pizza rustica. You really can’t go wrong with anything you order- check the specials board, too!
Beach Walk Cafe (Destin)
Beach Walk really is known as THE most romantic restaurant in Destin. It is located in the Henderson Park Inn (adults only) and is right on the Gulf…if you got any closer you’d be in the water. The restaurant prides itself on fantastic, individualized service. It’s been quite a few years since we’ve eaten there, but if I were going any time soon, I’d order the spinach salad, eggplant medallions with crab meat (omg!), sesame crusted tuna, or Grouper Vince. Mmmm…my mouth is watering!
La Crema Tapas & Chocolate (Rosemary Beach)
Whether you’re a local or just visiting, you must give La Crema in Rosemary Beach a try! It is one of our absolute favorite dining experiences in the area! Tapas and chocolate- what’s not to love? The entire vibe at La Crema is unlike anywhere else. You will feel like you’re in a quaint Spanish bistro. The steak empenadas are the stuff my dreams are made of! So flaky, so savory, so perfect. I’d gladly eat anything on the menu, but other favorites include the crispy brussel sprouts, seafood paella, peanut butter chocolate molten cake, and chocolate dipped bacon. I’d give anything to be eating there right this minute with a glass of wine!
Restaurant Paradis (Rosemary Beach)
Paradis is also located in Rosemary Beach and is absolutely fantastic. It’s very much a special occasion type place and to me the atmosphere makes you feel as though you’re in Napa Valley. The dramatic booths and chandeliers crafted from wine barrels will certainly set a romantic mood for the evening. As for dinner, the diver scallops, grilled Romaine Caesar, seared snapper, and cast iron filet are all sure to delight the palate. The keylime cheesecake is quite delicious, as well.
Vin’tij (Miramar Beach)
Vin’tij holds a very special place in my heart because they catered our wedding! Wine-lovers and foodies will rejoice at the extensive (and intriguing) wine list and eclectic menu. If you happen to opt for a romantic lunch, you MUST try the fried oyster and brie BLT. It’s not even an option. It will literally blow your mind! If dinner is more your speed, the shrimp and grits, Cioppino, and chili cumin pork loin are all to die for. They always have killer specials, too. Check out the wine flights for something fun and different!
Cuvee Kitchen + Wine Bar (Destin)
Cuvee is a relative newcomer on the Destin fine dining scene, but it’s truly stepped up to the plate! The restaurant prides itself on stellar service, craft cocktails, and an “electrifying” dining experience. The space itself is beautiful- bright and open with a huge bar (one of my favorite spots to cozy up) and plenty of dining room seating for a couple or a crowd. The menu is one of the most unique in Destin. Everything from small plates to sushi to large entrees. Go for the pork belly and bone marrow (when available) to start out, then try the Hot Mama sushi roll, duck breast (the spatzle on the side is heavenly!), and the tomahawk steak if you’re super hungry.
Camille’s at Crystal Beach (Destin)
Camille’s is home to my very favorite sushi in all of Destin! The restaurant is on the second level of a small hotel and offers great views of the Gulf. It’s not a very big space, so it feels warm and cozy. If sushi is your thing, go for the Backdown Roll (my all time favorite EVER), KAOS or TNT rolls. The dinner menu offers a bit of everything so each palate is sure to be pleased. I recommend Carla’s Seasonal salad, pork dumplings, Camille’s Burger, and the sun-dried tomato crusted grouper. There is also a great sidewalk cafe downstairs that offers smoothies, coffees, breakfast sandwiches, pastries, and more. You could grab a beverage there and take a romantic stroll on the beach!
Did I miss one of your favorite romantic spots? If you are dining out for Valentine’s Day this year, where are you going? Enjoy it, love birds!
