My husband builds custom homes here in Northwest Florida. He does an incredible job from design through construction and I’m so proud of the business he’s created! Proud wife alert- he was recently voted Best Builder/Contractor on the Emerald Coast and I couldn’t agree more.
Here are some of my favorite shots from his homes (all photos by Captivisions):
If you follow me over on Instagram, you probably know that we are building for ourselves. This will be the third home Jason has built for us and our eighth home together! We typically sell our homes after a couple years and then rent while we build again. It is fun to build new and start fresh again, but the moving is getting old. I’m hoping we can stay in this house for more than two years.
Here’s a quick peek at where we currently are in the construction process. Hoping to move in sometime during the spring.
Jason lets me help a lot with decorating our houses and picking out materials such as flooring, back splash, paint colors, wall paper, etc. This is definitely the fun part!
While we both like to keep most things neutral, it’s exciting to give each home a personality. Since this house is on the harbor, we’re wanting to include some coastal hues. My eye has really been drawn to cedar and driftwood with blue accents this time around.
First of all, I’m LOVING the look of a cedar hood! I’ve told Jason this is my one non-negotiable for the kitchen. We’ll see if he makes it happen.
And for kitchen lighting I’m thinking something like these:
The color palate in these rooms is my inspiration. I love how they feel bright and coastal without looking like a cheesy beach condo from the 1980s.
I love doing a fun wall paper in the pool bath. It’s small enough of a space so that some bright or busy wall paper won’t be overwhelming.
This was my favorite thing I found online, but it’s a fabric.
Wall paper is tough! This one is nice, but I’m wanting something with more of a coastal feel. B Darling has some incredible wall papers, though, if you are searching also.
The outdoor living space is really important to us. We love entertaining and the majority of parties and get togethers happen in the back yard. We cannot wait to have people over to the new space to enjoy the pool and harbor views!
This look is giving me all the feels, but might be a bit formal for our house.
So there you have it! We will likely meet with our designer soon and I can’t wait to share these photos with her and see what we come up with together. I’ll share more as we progress!
