This time next week we will be in Disney! This will be our fourth time taking the big kids and our first time bringing Miles. We might be crazy for taking an 18-month-old…only time will tell. 😉
Now that I’ve been to Disney (with kids) a few times, I’ve figured out just what we need. We are lucky that we are within driving distance, which allows us to throw extra necessities in the car. I’m sure you could survive a Disney trip without all of the items on my list, but I prefer to have them.
We are staying in a 2 BR condo with a kitchen, washer/dryer, etc. this time so I’m bringing some extra comforts from home.
clothes (Orlando is warm the majority of the year so shorts and Tshirts are best)
shoes (comfy walking shoes and sandals)
tooth brush + paste
hair brush + ties/bows for girls
ponchos (random pop up showers are common in FL so packing a Dollar Store poncho is a must!)
nightlight for dark hotel rooms
clothes (again, it’s hot- shorts and T shirts. I prefer to wear gym clothes to the parks!)
comfy walking shoes (I much prefer tennis shoes to flip flops for a day of walking around parks.)
Food + Household items:
Lots of snacks for the park (crackers, apple sauce, granola bars, etc.)
bottled water (SO important! Keep a case in your condo/hotel room and pack a few bottles each day. This saves soooo much money!)
breakfast foods for condo (I’m bringing cereal, granola bars, and bananas- I’ll pick up milk in Orlando)
reusable water bottles for kids
sippy cups for Miles
plastic grocery store bags + ziplocks (so helpful in tons of situations)
shampoo + conditioner + soap
washing machine detergent + dishwasher soap (I’ll bring a few of each type of pods from home)
pack ‘n play + sheet
diapers + wipes
leash (oh yes I am)
stroller (We’re actually bringing our double then borrowing a single from a friend in Orlando. Yes, my 4 and 6 year old will ride in a stroller from time to time. Prepare to walk MILES at Disney.)
*Please note- If you are flying or don’t feel like packing bulky items like strollers and pack ‘n plays, there are tons of rental companies in Orlando that will deliver these items to your hotel or condo! I’ve never used them myself, but Kingdom Strollers comes highly recommended. Garden Grocer comes recommended as a grocery delivery service.*
*Another note- there are approximately 9 billion strollers at Disney. Tie a string or balloon or sign to yours to easily find it!*
For the park I always pack a backpack with the following:
change of clothes for each kid (in case of potty accident or a water ride gets them all wet)
reusable water bottles plus extra water for refills
wet wipes + hand sanitizer
autograph book + chunky clickable sharpies for characters to use
sunscreen (hats + sunglasses if you want)
basic first aid kit with bandaids, Motrin, Pepto Bismol, etc.
Whew! I know that’s a lot. I like packing and being organized, so it puts my mind at ease to have all this written out as I’m packing. Don’t let this overwhelm you. If you forget something at home, you can certainly find it in Orlando or at the parks, you might just pay a premium.
People FREAK over their Disney trip, but the point is to have fun!
Did I forget anything? What do you pack?
