One of the highlights of our recent Royal Caribbean cruise was our time spent at Blue Lagoon Island in Nassau.
We knew we wanted to book a dolphin encounter for this port and we are so happy we chose Blue Lagoon Island (I believe Atlantis hotel also offers a dolphin encounter)!
We walked from the cruise ship to a ferry terminal. Once we boarded the ferry, it was about a 20 minute ride to the island. The scenery was gorgeous along the way. Everywhere you looked was aqua water and breathtaking yachts and waterfront mansions!
As you approach Blue Lagoon Island, it looks like an uninhabited piece of land with overgrown vegetation. But as you pull in, you realize it’s the most gorgeous cove of crystal clear water and sky-high palm trees.
The animal encounters are just steps away from the dock and the entire facility was clean and well laid out. The staff was friendly and attentive.
The trainers were friendly and lively- ours kept us laughing and engaged the entire time. The water was FREEZING, but we got over it.
We danced with Salvador, kissed him, and fed him fish, but that was just the start of our day. Our ticket included a beach pass, so after our dolphin encounter, we were able to enjoy all of the beach amenities on Blue Lagoon Island. This was my favorite part of the day!
The island has a bar and restaurant, a souvenir shop with bathrooms, yard games, beach chairs, kayaks, water bikes, snorkeling tours, and an inflatable water park (additional fee for some activities).
This was truly a family paradise! We found a perfect spot on the beach to set up camp. The kids splashed along the water’s edge while Jason and I shared a few beers. The restaurant wasn’t anything special (burgers, BBQ, etc), but the scenery and activities more than made up for it.
Unfortunately our time in port was far too short (the downfall of any cruise). We would have stayed on the beach all day if we didn’t have to get back to the boat.
We would love to visit Nassau with the family again and we will certainly come back to Blue Lagoon Island!
